At Wirra Wirra things are not always what they seem, like our twist on an Australian classic - shiraz and cabernet sauvignon - with a splash of petit verdot. Two beauties and an ugly duckling? It’s well known that Shiraz and Cabernet make great bedfellows, but in a rare case of ”three’s company”, the Bordeaux blender Petit Verdot takes this wine to another level, with its vibrant colour and rich fragrance. All three varietals conspire to achieve the balance, elegance and structure of this classic Wirra Wirra red, complemented by 12 months in American and French oak.
Best enjoyed with good friends and great food.
|Where no idea is deemed too big, outlandish or improbable; where eccentricity has been the rule rather than the exception and having fun is a serious business.
If your winery is home to a 3/4 tonne bell that you ring either on occasion or randomly; a boundary fence known as ”Woodhenge” made from massive threaded redgum posts; a giant outdoor ”bush” sculpture of a cricket bat, ball and stumps...
If you celebrate your late ”second founder’s” annual birthday by hurling watermelons into a vineyard from a giant medieval siege machine (trebuchet) and you acknowledge Australia’s most famous equestrian race by running around the grounds with your colleagues astride a broomstick topped with a cut-out horse head...
If you are serious about the wine you make, the wines you drink and the biodynamic vines you grow - but believe that everything else should be fun...
then welcome to the Wirra Wirra tribe.
