Vinous 91 points - One of the more immediate wines in the range, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Tomahawk Vineyard is juicy, perfumed and highly expressive. Raspberry jam, cloves and menthol take shape as the wine opens up further with time in the glass. I imagine the 2012 will be even more rewarding once it has had the time to finish its aging in barrel. This is a typical racy 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon.
91-93 Points (Nov 2013)
Wine Advocate 94 points - The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Tomahawk Vineyard comes from the southern edge of the estate. The color is a saturated ruby/purple. The wine possesses juicy, intense, pure, well-etched blackcurrant and black cherry fruit intermixed with underlying rocky minerality. This opulent, full-bodied 2012 is among the most concentrated and broadly textured of Chimney Rock’s 2012s. A beauty, it can be drunk early in life or cellared for 15 or more. (Oct 2014)
