Vinous 89 points - (48% malbec, 35% cabernet sauvignon, 7% cabernet franc, 5% merlot and 5% petit verdot): Saturated dark ruby. Superripe, high-toned aromas of black cherry, blackberry and violet. Supple, rich and verging on liqueur-like, with compelling sweetness to its flavors of dark berries, coffee and mocha. Finishes with substantial ripe, tongue-dusting tannins that show a slightly gritty texture. Stuffed with material but can’t match the 2008 version of this bottling for class. This wine finished with a tad more than three grams per liter of residual sugar.
Wine Spectator 92 points - Very creamy and lush, with a deep well of dark plum, blackberry and cocoa powder flavors, featuring some tarry notes. Plush and rich on the finish, with finely textured smoke and spice elements. Drink now through 2020.—K.M. (Jul 2 2014)
