Vinous 89 points - Deep ruby. Intensely perfumed aromas of candied cherry, blackberry, licorice and woodsmoke, with a hint of minerality. Spicy and nicely focused, with gripping red and dark berry flavors complicated by notes of vanilla and cracked pepper. Juicy and focused on the finish, which clings with good tenacity.
Rich, concentrated and powerful, Morlanda demonstrates an intimate and profound understanding of the extreme terroir of Spain’s Priorat. Crafted at our Viticultors del Priorat estate in the tiny village of Bellmunt del Priorat, Morlanda is made solely from estate-grown fruit, hand-harvested from vines planted on rocky slopes and plateaus at altitudes between 500-700 feet. The winery sits on 170 acres, with 47 acres of vineyard planted primarily with Garnacha and Carinena vines, many of which are between 25 and 40 years old. In the skilled hands of our winemaking team, the concentrated fruit from these vines result in wine of great character: big, dense and succulent, yet structured and balanced with a distinctive minerality born of this unique and singular terroir.
