Sangiovese 85%, Canaiolo 10%, Malvasia nera 5%. Ageing in barrels of 7,5 hl Refinement six months in bottles.
Our ”Azienda Agricola Monterotondo”, an ancient farmhouse dated 1056, is situated in the heart of Chianti on a tranquil panoramic hill surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. The farm was established in 1959 by my grandfather and for years remained my father’s hobby, until 1994, when my wife Fabiana and I decided to dedicate ourselves to developing it. Over the years we have replanted all the vineyards which by then were old and no longer suitable for producing a quality wine. We have 3.5 hectares of Chianti Classico, of which 3 hectares are devoted to Sangiovese and half a hectare to various other grape varieties. The cellar has been completely renovated and equipped with tanks and bottling and labelling machines all in stainless steel.
Our ageing room contains barrels of 7.5 hl and 10 hl, which our wines spend 12 months. Our philosophy is to produce excellent wines without using chemical products; in fact, our farm has been organic since 2003.
