Sotirio is a high-profile wine, made out of Sangiovese grapes, and follows a long tradition of producing this vine in the region of Siena. lt is Podernuovo’s top wine, and reflects the strong ties between the land, the vines and the men working them. This preciously chiselled wine links the past to the present under the common denominator of quality and elegance.
Sotirio is the name of the founder of the Bulgari family, who in 1884 moved from his native Epirus to Rome where he opened a silverware shop in Via Sistina. Later, with the help of his two sons Costantino and Giorgio, he moved to Via Condotti where the Bulgari flagship store is today, and from where the success story of the famed jeweller began.
The Podernuovo estate was purchased in 2004 by Paolo and Giovanni Bulgari. The vineyard had been abandoned many years before, and the challenge was to bring it to new life, and have it produce elegant and harmonious wines. Wines that would capture the essence, the beauty and harmony of this specific place, respecting its nature and its history.
Podernuovo a Palazzone is a simple project, realized with commitment, dedication and attention to the nature’s needs. A project that want to reveal its passion for all things good, beautiful and well done, for which Italy has long been known for.
