Wine Spectator 89 points - Lively pepper, olive, cherry pit and plum notes bounce along, with fresh, finely beaded acidity lacing up the finish. Drink now. 50 cases imported.-JM  (Nov 30 2013)

Vinous 91 points - Brilliant ruby. Exotic, high-toned aromas of blackberry liqueur, apricot, pungent flowers and white pepper. Silky and seamless in texture, offering gently sweet, smoke-tinged red and dark berry flavors and a strong suggestion of spicecake. Shows no obvious tannins on the impressively persistent finish, which repeats the blackberry and spice notes. Stephane Ogier says that while he suspects that this wine will age positively for five to eight years, ”it’s to drink, really, while you wait for the Cote-Rotie to mature.”  (Apr 2014)

Wine Advocate 90 points - Insiders and shrewd consumers have long realized that the 30,000-bottle Syrah La Rosine Vin de Pays cuvee is a great bargain. The 2011 is a 100% Syrah from the steep hillsides north of the old Roman town of Vienne, a few miles up river from Cote Rotie. The soils are largely decomposed granite. The 2011 La Rosine is a serious Syrah displaying lots of tapenade, blackberry, charcoal and fruit. This beautifully made wine sells at a remarkably fair price as it resembles a Cote Rotie from the Cote Brune.
The 2011 Syrah La Rosine IGP, which comes from steep hillside slopes located around the town of Vienna, offers serious bang for the buck. Comprised of 100% Syrah, it offers impressive notes of kirsch, toasted spice, herbed meats and leather to go with a supple, beautifully fruited and textured profile. Up-front and already delicious, it still has the balance and density to evolve gracefully for upwards of a decade. (Dec 2012)

La Rosine is a bottling of pure Syrah from vineyards located between Cote Rotie and Condrieu, and averaging 15 years in age. The wine is vinified in new, one and two year-old barrels. The La Rosine displays the classic Cote Rotie aromas and flavors of smoked meats, ripe plums and spice. This is an awesome entry-level wine from the northern Rhone, and is less than half the price of good Cote Rotie.
This tiny estate, located in the village of Ampuis, consists of 15 acres (6 acres are within the Cote Rotie appellation). Prior to 1980, Michel, the father, sold off both his fruit and the wines he produced to the large negociant Marcel Guigal. Michel began to bottle his wines under his own label, and Bobby’s first vintage working with Domaine Ogier was 1988. Today, more than 20 years later, Stephane Ogier, his son, is in charge of the property. His youthful energy and passion for the vineyards and winemaking have resulted in the estate’s rise to superstar status over the past ten years.
