Castello di Cacchiano is located in the Chianti Classico, in the commune of Gaiole in Chianti, near the village of Monti. Founded in the 10th century by the Baron Ricasoli-Firodolfi, the fruit was always sold – that is until 1974 when Baron Alberto Ricasoli-Firodolfi and his wife Elisabetta Balbi Valier began producing wine under their own label, Castello di Cacchiano. The current owner, Giovanni Ricasoli- Firidolfi, is also the winemaker. 77 acres of vineyards are planted at an altitude of 1,247-1,312 feet on calcareous clay, crumbled limestone and sandstone. The estate is primarily planted with Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino, Malvasia and Merlot.
