Wine has been made on the Schloss Johannisberg estate since 1720 making it one of the oldest vineyards in Germany. In 1816, Prince von Metternich was granted the estate for his work in facilitating the Congress of Vienna after the defeat of Napoleon and dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire. This winery is so distinctive they are exempt from having to provide a village name on the bottle. This Riesling is Germany’s finest sparkling wine. The taste is dry and crisp with high acidity and fresh effervescence.
