Steve Tanzer 90 points - Deep, saturated ruby color. Cassis, blueberry and tapenade aromas are complemented by candied flowers and gentle oak spices. Pliant dark fruit flavors show liqueur-like depth, with dusty tannins providing back-end shape. Really coats the palate, with slow-building acidity contributing focus and lift. This is delicious right now. (Jul 2009)
Made from grapes grown on 50-100 year old vineyards, this McLaren Vale classic is matured nearly two years in new American oak prior to bottling. The richly textured fruit and deep, velvety tannins interweave beautifully into a long, harmonious finish. 15 years plus cellaring potential.
