Vinous 89 points - Bright ruby. An exotically perfumed bouquet evokes dark berries, violet and woodsmoke; reminded me of syrah. On the palate, lively, focused blackberry and boysenberry flavors are lifted by juicy acidity. Shows very good energy on the incisive, youthfully clenched finish, which is firmed by dusty, slow-building tannins. Give this one some air to help open things up.
89+ Points (May 2014)
Wine Spectator 91 points - A muscular red, offering a potent mix of dense fruit and powerfully structured acidity and tannins. Aromas of white pepper, boysenberry and loamy mineral lead to deep blueberry, raspberry and anise flavors. Hands-off for now. Best from 2017 through 2022.-T.F (Feb 18 2015)
