Wine Spectator 89 points - Supple, ripe and expressive, with dark berry and licorice flavors on a polished frame, persisting with punch. Drink now through 2019. 10,000 cases imported.-HS

A deep cherry red colour leads to a bouquet showing blackcurrant and forest fruits and a touch of stylish oak in the background. The palate shows richness of fruit, and spice softly textured tannins and a long, flavoursome finish. While drinking beautifully now, the wine can be aged for a further 3-5 years if desired during which time it will continue to soften and gain in complexity. It is a good idea to decant beforehand to allow some oxygen in and bring out the best in the wine.
|Wine maker notes
|Peter Lehmann once said that when God created Shiraz, he did so with the Barossa in mind!
Shiraz has had a long and glorious history in the Barossa where it has flourished uninterrupted since the 1840’s. The Barossa blessedly escaped the scourge of phylloxera, and consequently many of the vineyards remain planted on their own roots, direct descendants of cuttings brought to Australia in the early 1800’s from Hermitage in the Rhone Valley. This makes the Barossa the envy of the wine world.
Our soils and our climate are ideal for producing the full flavoured, rich fruited Shiraz wines of great longevity that have made them internationally recognised as Australia’s contribution to the great wines of the world.
|Peter Lehmann established the Tanunda-based winery that bears his name in 1979, creating a wine brand that today signifies quality Barossa winemaking.
Each vintage, over 140 grape growers supply Peter Lehmann Wines with quality fruit from over 700 hand-tended vineyards located throughout the Barossa
The collection includes all significant varieties and wine styles, ranging from the flagship Stonewell Shiraz to wines crafted for every day enjoyment. Each one backed by one of the great stories of Australian winemaking.
