Robert Parker Rating:96 Points
There are 1,300 cases of the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Paradise Hills Vineyard. Boasting delicious fudge-like aromas intermixed with blackberry, coffee bean, and pain grille scents, this super-rich, full-bodied effort displays a Graves-like, volcanic, scorched earth/hot stone element in its flavors. With moderately high tannin, it will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age, and should drink well over the following two decades. Both 2004s have put on considerable weightand performed significantly stronger out of bottle than they did from cask.

Steve Tanzer Rating:94 Points
" Deep ruby. Vibrant, pure aromas of black raspberry and violet. Sweet, primary and sophisticated, with a lovely lightness of touch for a 2004. Very fresh cabernet with a building finish featuring suave, rich tannins and outstanding length."

Wine Spectator Rating: 88 Points
Tight, with spicy currant, herb, cedar, mineral and herbal leather notes. Complex but restrained, this is balanced, yet leaves you hoping for more richness and depth. Needs air. Best from 2009 through 2013. 1,300 cases made.

Wine maker notes
Blankiet Estate was created in 1996 by Claude Blankiet and his wife, Katherine. From 46 acres on the foothills of the Mayacamas range, 16 acres of vineyard has been developed by renowned viticulturist David Abreu. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc were planted on volcanic ash and fractured rock, and Merlot on the clay deposited by streams draining the mountain ridge above. Helen Turley was hired as winemaker and responsible for the first eight vintages. Then in 2006, Martha McClellan-Levy took over winemaking, assisted by oenologist, Michel Rolland from Pomerol.
