This wine comes from 26 parcels planted on Davayé and Prissé soils. Situated in the south-western part of the Saint Véran appellation near the cliffs of Solutré and Vergisson, these Jurassic chalk soils are ideal to produce top quality fruits of Chardonnay. A rich and ripe Saint-Véran wine with character and typical of the terroir with white fruits aromas.
This wine can be appreciated on its own or with nice seafood cuisine such as grilled fish but also can be served on a creamy chicken.
The Collovray and Terrier's families are from Davayé, a small village, located in the south of burgundy, throught the most beautiful vineyards of the Maconnais, next to the limestone rocks of Vergisson and Solutré.
The Maconnais Vineyard finds its roots in the gallo-romane period, around the IIIrd century and continue under the monks authority, linked with the abbey of cluny. In 1660, they adquire a national fame when Louis XIV adopted the Maconnais Wine in his Courtyard.
So the most southerner of the burgundy vineyards enjoys an exceptional terroir and climate, which sublimate the grape variety of the Chardonnay. This ancestral culture give birth of the famous appellations Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran, situated on the site of Solutre-Pouilly, Fuissé and Vergisson. Whereas, the cultivation of the Gamay on the maconnais hillslope, rest on the appellations: Macôn and Macôn-village, in the village of Prissé, Davayé, Fuissé and Charnay-lès-Mâcon.
In the heart of this outstanding terroir, two childhood friends, Christian Collovray and Jean-Luc Terrier have created with their wifes, in 1986, the Domaine des Deux Roches. This name refered to their parcels located next to the boulders of Vergisson and Solutré, which is one of the most prestigious natural and historical place.
In 1997, guided by their passion of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, they founded a new terroir of expressiveness with the rehabilitation of the "Château d'Antugnac", located close to Limoux, in the Languedoc-Roussillon.
All members of the two families are helping in the two domains, in one way or an other to offer their best wines. Christian is in charge of the vineyard, while Jean-Luc is managing the vinification. And Henry and Simone continue to work. You can meet them along the year in the vineyard...
