Wine Advocate 87 points - I missed this for the Napa report, but the wine, a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, is 100% from Napa, aged 18-23 months in 50% new French oak. It’s a negociant selection by Doug Polaner, who has impeccable taste, and has put this together to represent something in Napa Valley that is realistically priced. Dense ruby/plum/purple, with notes of blackcurrants, cedar wood, loamy soil notes and underbrush, the wine is medium-bodied, shows beautiful fruit purity and a relatively soft, round finish. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.
The wine is opaque with classic aromas of black fruits, tobacco and cedar. On the palate it is rich and mouth-filling balanced by beautiful ripe tannins and acidity giving the wine lift. It has a core of blackberry and cassis fruits, tobacco and a hint of very well integrated oak.
