This wine is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier, resulting in a fine wine which is powerful but not aggressive, with an agreeable freshness, supple roundness on the palate and a clean and fruity finish.

It is aged a minimum of four years in the cellars before shipment (well over the legal minimum for Brut Champagne which is 18 months.

Pleasant, well-balanced, with a light golden color, this wine is very mature and ready to drink immediately. The bouquet has a hint of citrus, with flowers, and lemon peel. It is an "easy Champagne" you can have for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and all night long. Delicious as an aperitif, and equally delightful with a dessert.

James Suckling 91 points - A cleverly orchestrated reductive edge to the nose, this has a layer of toasted cashew ahead of citrus, peach, spice, fine cherry and raspberry fruits. The palate’s nicely crafted to deliver an even and smooth impression. Red fruit flavors run long and smooth, with some fresh bread dough notes too; nicely yeasty to close. Drink now.  (Jul 2015)

Wine Advocate 91 points - The majority-Chardonnay (most of that from Avize, Cramant and Oger) Delamotte NV Brut L04612 is 35% Pinot Noir (from the Montagne de Reims); 10% Meunier (from the Vallee de la Marne); and spends three years sur latte as well as six or more months in bottle prior to release. Officially, it is grand cru. The bottle in question is from vintage 2008 with 25% reserve wine. Clover and apple blossom with a discreet whiff of chalk in the nose lead to an oily and expansive yet buoyant and refreshing palate, its fresh apple and pear suffused with savory sweet-saline and iodine-tinged crustacean shell reduction. Piquant hickory and black walnut as well as chewy apple skin are subtly integrated so that they serve for insistent, low-grade excitation. This high-umami, mouthwatering cuvee displays a combination of textural richness with lift and elegant restraint that represent outstanding value for this genre.  (Nov 2013)

Wine Spectator 91 points - Well-knit and balanced, this sleek Champagne offers notes of fresh-cut apple, smoky mineral, biscuit and preserved lemon on the fine, lacy mousse. Drink now through 2018. 7,500 cases imported. -AN  (Dec 15 2015)

Vinous 91 points - (50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier, with 7 g/l dosage): Bright straw. Vibrant aromas of lemon pith, pear skin and honeysuckle, with a chalky topnote. Dry, sharply focused lemon and lime flavors become deeper with air and pick up brioche and ginger nuances. Firm, chewy and dry, finishing with very good clarity and stony persistence. (Dec 2015)

The House of Champagne Delamotte is the fifth-oldest Champagne house in the region, founded in 1760 and located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Sister house and contiguous to the House of Champagne Salon, Delamotte produces no more than 50,000 cases annually, ensuring that the vineyards of Delamotte dominate the expression of its wines, defining the house’s elegant, mineral style. Through hard work in the vineyards and long aging in the cellars, the House of Champagne Delamotte has come to be recognized as one of the leading Champagne producers in the Cote des Blancs.
Technical notes
Villages: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize and Oger. The Pinot Noir is sourced from vineyards on the side of the Marne river in Bouzy, Tours-sur-Marne and Ambonnay. The small percentage of Pinot Meunier that is blended in is from Vallee de la Marne. A minimum of three years on the lees prior to release (the legal minimum for Brut Champagne is only 15 months).
