The intense, ruby red color of this wine tends toward orange with age. The full bouquet of sweet black cherry, pepper, and licorice is typical of the Cannonau grape. Warm and full bodied on the palate with excellent texture, ripe fruit flavors and pleasant tannins.
Wine Enthusiast 95 points - Once an IGT wine, the entry level 2012 Cannonau di Sardegna Costera now boasts DOC status. Cannonau is blended with 5% Carignano and 5% Bovale and the wine reflects the wild beauty of the island that shaped it. Dried sage, wild berry and cassis emerge from the glass. Smooth tannins makes this a great option for pasta topped with shaved pecorino cheese.
Antinori “Tignanello” 2012 is a blend of 80% Sangiovese, 5% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. An intense ruby red in color, this Tuscan red offers complex aromas of red fruit, smoke, balsamic and spice on the nose. On the palate, elegant and mouth-filling flavors of fruit, spice and oak with excellent balance and texture and a long finish.
