Wine Advocate 90 points - (42% new oak): Light yellow-gold. Lively citrus and orchard fruits on the spicy nose. Shows hints of sweet butter and ginger on the palate, complementing Meyer lemon and apple flavors that tighten up with air. Closes tangy and dry, with an echo of ginger and good, nervy persistence.
The 2012 Chardonnay is raised in Burgundy barrels. It has an orthodox, creamy, slightly buttery bouquet that does not own the energy of the unoaked version, but is nicely controlled. The palate is nicely balanced with a rounded, marmalade tinged opening, plenty of lime zest and apricot fruit and the oak remaining well-behaved and out of the limelight on the finish. This is well-crafted. Drink now-2017.
