The Macari family history of making wine dates back to a basement in Corona, Queens in the early 1900s. A tribute to the Macari family’s continued winemaking and Italian heritage, Collina, (Italian for “hill”), takes its name from the Mattituck Hills, sand bluffs facing the Long Island Sound on Macari’s farm. The latest Collina release is rustic and charming at the same time—it is the perfect wine to open anytime for its straightforward, fruity character and excellent pairing ability.
This bottling includes small percentages of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Pinot Noir blended into our base of Merlot, adding to the depth and complexity of this affordable wine. Aromas of strawberry and violet mingle with baking spices on the nose. The palate mimics the nose and adds a touch of black pepper on the round, smooth finish.
