Wine Enthusiast 89 points - This blend of straight whiskeys offers rich, sweet aromas bursting with caramel and brown sugar. A concentrated, drying palate shows bold toffee, clove and espresso, finishing quite fiery. Adding water softens the heat and coaxes out a buttery feel, but it also pales the flavor from toffee to vanilla.
The magnicent Bourye is back. This ultra limited blend of Bourbon and Rye whisky is one of the High West's best. This is the second batch of this whisky and it included a 9 year old Bourbon and two Ryes at 10 and 16 years old. The result is incredibly deep and complex with the rich sweetness of the bourbon not overpowering the intensity of the rye spice.
|Bourye’s unique blend features three whiskies: a 10-year-old bourbon with a mash bill of 75 percent corn, 20 percent rye and 5 percent barley malt; a 12-year-old straight rye whiskey that’s 95 percent rye and five percent barley malt; and finally a 16-year-old straight rye with 53 percent rye, 37 percent corn and 10 percent malt.
