Founded in 2007 by entrepreneur Efrain Lopez, Tequila Semental is named after Spain's premier breed of fighting bulls. Prized for their pedigree, ferocity and competitive spirit, Mexican landowners historically used them to guard their agave fields. By merging traditional distillation methods with modern technology, Semental crafts ultra-premium Tequila for a new generation of consumers. Master Distiller and blender Valente Arellano L.C.Q brings four decades of experience to the task. He hand-selects 7-8 year old, mature Blue Agave from the rich volcanic soils of the Semental estate holdings in the lowlands of the Amatitan and Tequila Valleys – long known for producing rich, spicy, forceful tequila. The agave is carefully cooked in a high precision, stainless steel autoclave oven and allowed to ferment naturally. Using 100% purified and filtered water, Arellano tames the fiery nature of the spirit through triple distillation, discarding the unwanted head and tail portions of the liquid and selecting only the heart, which contains the most concentrated flavors. Each tequila is then individually blended to provide the perfect balance of smoothness and unique, exotic character. Aging is done exclusively in new American and French oak Barricas Tequileras.
