Ultimate Beverage Challenge 93 points - (Ultimate Beverage Collection, FinalistTried & True Award) Visual effect of the mesmerizing pale rose color is memorable. First inhalations feature subtle fragrances of ripe peach, nectarine, pink grapefruit, black grapes, raisins. Taste profile highlights the orchard fruit freshness and tanginess that’s both acidic and moderately tannic, but dazzlingly concentrated on grapiness. Finishes long and languid.  (Nov 2013)

Wine Spectator 94 points - Moet & Chandon’s 1999 Grand Vintage Collection is another lovely Champagne to drink now. Today, the 1999 is a bit slender, with slightly nutty notes that suggest it is fast approaching full maturity, but all the elements are nevertheless nicely balanced. Hazelnut, smoke and honey add nuance as the wine gains texture and overall depth through the finish.
Pear, spices, yellow stone fruits and smoke meld together in the Brut Grand Vintage. Rich and ample on the palate, the 2004 impresses for its balance, richness and volume. This bottle is quite a bit fresher and more vibrant than the bottle I reviewed last year. Early signs of development are just now starting to appear, but the flavors remain on the bright side for a ten year-old Champagne. If anything, the 2004 needs a bit more time to fully come together. Overall. this is a terrific showing. The blend is 38% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir and 29% Pinot Meunier. Disgorged 2012.
Assembled from surprisingly close to one-third each of Champagne’s trio of major cepages, Moet & Chandon’s 2004 Brut Grand Vintage delivers a delightful aroma mingling chamomile and honeysuckle, pear and white peach, green tea and quinine, all anticipating the lusciously juicy, refreshingly tart and subtly piquant but also silken and buoyant palate impression that follows. As with the corresponding rose, I was surprised to find a decided sense of sweetness from just five grams residual sugar, but the ripe generosity of the vintage no doubt goes far toward explaining this, and I don’t find it at all misplaced, much less obtrusive. Its soothing texture complements this wine’s invigorating vivacity, levity, and transparence to herbal and floral nuances in a lingering finish. I would not be surprised to witness it offering some additional - or at least, new - delights over the next couple of years in bottle.
(features a relatively low dosage of five grams per liter): Light yellow. Pungent aromas of poached pear, tangerine and toasty lees, with a stony nuance adding vivacity. Silky and expansive on the palate, offering intense citrus and orchard fruit flavors and an emerging hint of smokiness. Finishes sappy and very long, with excellent clarity and a whiplash of chalky minerals. Disgorged in September, 2013. LAH5Z.
Sleek acidity trims the sails of this otherwise rich and expansive Champagne, keeping it finely balanced and racy throughout. Flavors of roasted hazelnut, crushed blackberry, ripe apricot, honey and ginger biscuit glide on the silky palate to a saline-tinged finish. Drink now through 2029. -AN  (Dec 15 2014)

"Every Grand Vintage is unique and original, the Moet and Chandon cellar master's personal, free interpretation of the singular qualities of that year's grapes. The House's 71st vintage, Grand Vintage 2006 is a wine of delightfully fruity freshness. Initial notes of peach, mango, and banana flow into more mature aromas such as white pepper before evolving toward intriguing floral notes to create a champagne of refined complexity."
The story of Dom Perignon began in the 17th century at the Abbey of Hautvillers. Centuries later, the story has become a legend, the product a brand, and the brand a myth.
